On the 20th of September, Enso had the opportunity to exhibit at Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Festival of Business.

Festival of Business gives local entrepreneurs and businesses the opportunity to hear from expert speakers on topics such as sales, marketing, business growth and AI. Along with this, this was a great opportunity to network with other attendees.

We decided to make the most of this event and ask 5 successful professionals – ‘What is your most recommended business resource?’ to get their insight and knowledge so that this information can be used by fellow business professionals, either up-and-coming or looking to grow.

Here’s what they had to say;

Louise Brogan – Louise Brogan LTD

I actually host a netwalk, that runs once a month for Small Business Britain that people are very welcome to come along and join in. We walk from the big blue fish to titanic. I also have a lot of content on YouTube to help business owners on how to use LinkedIn. That’s LinkedIn With Louise on YouTube and there is also a podcast with the same name too.’

Orla McKeating – Diversity Mark

‘A really good book that I keep going back to is called ‘Building an Inclusive Organisation’ and that’s written by Stephen Frost. And that explores how we move towards a truly inclusive workplace. It looks at bias, it looks at allyship, it looks at really committing to progress within organisations; because it’s obviously not an overnight thing, it is really about committing to a journey. That’s one that I would keep going back to, and I would really recommend it in terms of ED&I in any organisation. My favourite podcast is Conversations by Nova Reid, and she is an anti-racism educator. And that’s all about being a good ally. So what does that look like, how do we learn, how do we unlearn, how do we commit to being a good ally in the workplace and beyond.’

George Condell – Exitech Digital

‘There’s probably quite a few recommendations to choose from! From our own personal experience, networking with individuals, business to business, business to consumer, but really essentially building that customer relationship, giving them a proper service and having them recommend your business. And then taking the feedback from those customers and see how we can change, how we can make our service better. All of those things. You do also have resources on the web, whether that be on LinkedIn, or podcasts, or whatever that may be. At Exitech Digital, we are driving forward in terms of new technologies and that’s something that we like to rely on in terms of getting new information.’

Chris Jarvis – Titanic Suites

‘For me, it has to be networking events. I think with what we offer, the serviced office spaces, the virtual office spaces – it’s a great resource to attend networking events. We get to meet the decision makers face to face, we get to explore their business and where they see their business going in the future, and how we can properly support them, whether currently or down the line. It’s good to get the brand out there on a day like today. It’s good to be here, or events anywhere in the country.’

Aaron Marshall – Responsible Plastic Management Program

‘Recently I read a book called the 75 Hard. What this book is really about is self-discipline. So it’s making sure your personal and work goals are being completed. It gives you a whole step-by-step guide on how that can be done. It’s really helped me to put things into perspective and meet certain goals that I would achieve. It’s taking them and making them linear so they are SMART goals, instead of taking a broad perspective, it fine-tunes it to say ‘Here’s the steps that you can make personally in your life or work’. I read that recently and it's helped me to achieve things I wouldn’t have been able to do.'

The answers are fantastic. No two answers were the same, and there are a great list of resources and recommendations that we think are absolutely brilliant.

A huge thanks to our interviewees for taking the time to answer – especially during such a busy event! Make sure to check out each of the great companies, and check out what they do!
