I'm currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established company as they seek to bring on board a Senior Platform Engineer as part of their close-knit Belfast outfit.


My client can provide you with the stability and matureness of a FTSE200 company coupled with a start-up vibe in the Belfast office which allows for individuals to make a big impact.


My client is a software product house operating in the InsureTech space. Their core platform is not profit driven, consumers use their platform free of charge to compare insurance deals. Everyone is trying to save money given the current economic climate and these guys are facilitating that the best they can.


My client are always challenging their solutions, which has led to the constant improvement of their technology both front-end and back-end. Today a significant chunk of all UK travel insurance is purchased through their solution.

What you will do:


My client are currently creating a new Internal Developer Platform which ensures product engineers have everything they need to transfer new features quickly and safely to customers. Their Platform Engineering teams are product teams themselves, focused on platform capabilities they manage and develop for the organization, working in close collaboration with developers, QAs and data scientists. 



  • Manage and support Azure infrastructure
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships
  • Drive effective enterprise architecture
  • Effective cost management
  • System uptime and disaster recovery management
  • Drive autonomy and efficiencies within engineering teams 
  • Enhance the Monitoring and Alerting strategy
  • Mentor and nurture your team. 
  • Leverage modern technologies where appropriate. 
  • Manage Technology wide initiatives to drive best practices and move the platform forward as a whole.
  • Enable collaboration and innovation in the team and with stakeholders. Create an environment that drive positive energy and a mentality to succeed.
  • Define metrics and ensure we can effectively measure success.
  • On-Call support 


What skills will help you excel in this role:

  • Skilled in Azure Technologies (certification would be desirable)
  • Experience in Security technologies (e.g. Snyk, Microsoft Defender, Cloudflare, Sentinel)
  • Experience with Containerisation
  • Experience in Networking technologies (e.g. Virtual Networks, Cloudflare, DNS, VPN, NSG’s)
  • Experience in SQL Server technologies including AzureSQL
  • Experience in leading a team
  • Experience in Azure DevOps 
  • Experience in using Monitoring tools (e.g. App Insights, DataDog)
  • Familiar with Azure Active Directory and Microsoft 365
  • Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Manager (formally Intune)
  • Experience with Video Conferencing Solutions (e.g. Logitech)
  • Experience with network maintenance and support (e.g. Wireless Networks)
  • Experience with Incident Management
